Practice at Marine Drive
Run along the queens necklace at marine drive’s 4 km long stretch from Girgaum beach till Nariman Point. One of the best location to get yourself trained for the upcoming marathon is at South Mumbai’s promenade footpath. Gain in some fresh sea air to feel energetic while you run on the footpath beside main road of this promenade.
Get comfortable in cool shorts with your music on and get that rejuvenating experience along with getting trained for marathon event. Best time to practice is early morning between 4:30 to 6:30 when the climate is fresh, Or alternately late evening. In late evening their are many other joggers as well and the place gets little crowded with tourist and citizens all at same place for some leisure time too. Footpath is concrete and might not be suitable for those suffering with joints problems.
Priyadarshini Park (PDP Mumbai)
As locally called ‘PDP’, Priyadarshini Park is located at Bhulabhai Desai Road in south Mumbai, connected to Malabar Hill, and goes straight forward to Nariman point again. One of the best South Mumbai marathon practice locations, again a beautiful promenade with fresh air, ideal for joggers and runners to practice on its 500 meters track which is soft and ideal for running. This park has another 400 meter wide track for marathon runners which has eight lane of synthetic track zones, ideal for practising and increasing body endurance. To keep a note, this is a Not a Free track to practice and requires membership fees of about Rs.2700/- quarterly.
An ideal 400 meter jogging track for nearby residents and an awesome practice location for pre marathon practitioners. The Sea shore edged muddy track of Bandra’s joggers park near carter road is surrounded by greenery. It has trees, flower plants around with and entry fee as low as Rs.2 for adults and Rs.1 for kids. Juhu Beach For Runners
Famous beach of Mumbai is calm and silent in morning filled with fitness freaks of Mumbai, which includes Bollywood celebrities and other citizens of Andheri, Versova, Four/Seven Bungalow residents. The muddy beach is 8 km long, pollution free with fresh cool breeze of early morning, ideal to energize and get ready for the day and the yearly marathon event. Training sessions and practice happens everyday and experts say that running and practising in beach is best for leg muscles and endurance. Mahalaxmi Racecourse Running Track
Located just adjacent to Mahalaxmi Railway Station in West, this racecourse has been an ideal location for fitness freaks and runners. The running track is about 2.2 km and is open to public free of cost between timings, 5 Am to 9 Am and 4 Pm to 8 Pm. A soothing green belt around and the muddy track is and ideal training location for pre marathon practice. The only challenge is during monsoon as the track has mud and need to face the puddles and during winters the fog can affect those sensitive throats for some. Some participants of half marathon says that this place is a great alternative for that treadmills and walkers we have inside gym and home to keep fit.
Aarey Colony For Marathon Runners
As per the fitness experts and those who participate every year in Mumbai marathon, Aarey colony is one of the best location for pre run practice because of the cool climate, greenery around, no traffic and pollution and most important the 1 km steep and incline stretch that come along which helps the running during the actual run location of pedder road which is hilly and inclined. The practice here increases the endurance and makes body perfectly fit and ready for the event.
Other Practice Running Locations
Some of the locations which are not one of the famous Mumbai running tracks yet ideal for practice are Palm Beach Road, Back Road of Malad Link Road, Powai Lake Adjacent etc.
