Lets know more about this new alternate transport which will make this attraction spot more attractive to picnic seekers and hill station lovers..”
MRPL who is starting up this project expects this to be India’s longest ropeway and is getting the best cable car industry experts to get the new attraction of Matheran live in a year or two from now. Waiting to get all clearance the pending project of 2001 is ready with all legalities to give a new kind of adventure ride to tourists that will run between Bhutivali village at Bhivpuri station which is between Neral station and Karjat. Approximate time that will be taken for 1 round of Ferry from Bhutivali village to Matheran hill top will be about 20 Minutes which will be covering distance of 4.7 Kilometers at vertical height of about 750 meter from below. Wow, that will be a fascinating view to enjoy the deep valley during monsoons and also in other months as the ferry will be 100% transparent from floors also. Its like all side open to enjoy the view.
Total cost of this project will be 150 crores and is expected to be one of the Longest ropeway of India. So, after the latest zip line adventure, this gives another chance to be in air inside deep valley. Since Matheran is near to Mumbai and one of the only cool hill stations listed in Unesco Heritage listing, security of cable car and tourism is taken proper care. Also lately the shuttle trains also started from Aman Lodge to Top of Matheran Mountain which gave another boost to tourism.
Basically their will be 2 different types of Cable cars that will be running through hill station, First one will run for about 2.9 km distance with public carrying capacity of 10 people and the other one will be reversible jig back ropeway for next 1.7 kms with more carrying capacity more then 50 people (about 400 People Per Hour is targeted) and this one will have 2 carriers. This longest ropeway of India will follow all terms and guidelines to keep this hills station Eco-Friendly and pollution free and will save lots of travel time that the toy trains took. Another solution that this ropeway brings will be that of car parking challenges faced till date and will be no more. People will park their private vehicles at Bhivpuri and Neral and can directly take the ropeway ride to Matheran, which till date were allowed till Dasturi naka only.
