Benefits of Dedicated Bus Lanes in Mumbai

A common mans cheapest vehicle which is affordable for daily travel is BEST buses of Mumbai. But the problem is the time it takes to travel from one point to another in this beautiful and fast moving city. Traffic in peak office hours is what the biggest challenge for commuters is who travels for about 3 to 4 hours daily to and from job taking multiple transport options like local trains, Auto, Taxi and buses. This leaves no space for a job going middle class person personal life with about minimum of 9 to 10 working hours of city. A Single BRTS AC Bus takes a load of about 15 to 18 private cars plying on road helping reduce traffic. If lanes are dedicated to buses, i am sure many white collar senior executives will prefer travelling in AC buses via BEST Buses leaving private cars for weekend drives and fun with family.

Such dedicated corridors / lanes for regular buses (NON AC and AC Buses) is surely going to bring smile and much of relief to all such 27 lakhs commuters. As of date few lanes are planned at various traffic centric locations of Mumbai in Central, Western suburbs, South Mumbai. With green node by BMC and Traffic police upon feasibility study for particular roads in Mumbai, BKC opens in Mid of April 2016 has first of such corridor, By August 3 more and by 2017, 3 to 4 more such bus lanes are identified, approved to start up with. Below are approximate details of such corridors with tentative route details.
