Challenges Faced Late Night Commuting
Last train from Churchgate station towards Western Suburban railway station like Borivali is at 1:00 Am. which If missed, one need to wait till 4:00 Am in morning for the first local train or arrange a private vehicle, mobile based private fleet operator taxi services like Ola and Uber or any regular taxi running on digital meter system which is costly affair to reach home.
To solve with the problems as last year during ‘Ganesh Visarjan Day’, Which is last day of 10 days Ganesh festival when idol immersion is done at various beaches till late night and early morning hours, BEST arranges few extra bus services to help the crowd and the results was positive as it helped commuting with good response to BEST bus service too. Taking a step ahead, they decided to make this move permanent by arranging late night bus services for citizens benefiting daily and occasional commuters. Central Railway Late Night Bus Details
October 2017, BEST declares and almost ready for 2 new late night bus services running between Colaba and Sion due to adjustments in Central Railway train schedules. These 2 buses will ply on from November 2 on Bus 66 Ltd route between colaba and sion via RBI and CST stations. If commuters benefits and demands, More buses can be allocated fro night travel.
Timings : 1:30 Am & 2:15 Am from Colaba.
Western Railway Late Night Bus Details
Starting with this initial services, BEST has introduced 4 of its existing bus routes to also run late at nights. Below are start timings and routes details (Routes will be same as day time route) except detailed individually below.
Bus 202 LTD
Regular day time 202 Ltd route starts from Mahim Bus Station till Gorai Depot in day time.
Late night timing will be 1:45 Am starting from Dadar East.
Bus 4 LTD
Day time route for 4 Ltd bus is from Hutatma Chowk to Goregaon Oshiwara Depot.
Late night this bus will start from Dadar East at 2:25 Am.
Bus No. 302
Day time route for Bus 302 is from Pratiksha Nagar Depot to M P Chowk at Mulund West.
Same bus will run Late night at 2:30 from Dadar East.
Bus 521 Ltd
Day time 521 Ltd Bus route is Vasantrao Naik Chowk to Ghansoli Village.
This will be the last bus running late night at 4:00 Am from Dadar East to Koparkhairne.
