Kanheri Caves Borivali – Mumbai | Borivali Caves In National Park
Located at Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Borivali East, which is one of the Famous Suburban Western Railway Station Of Mumbai Kanheri caves is in central heart of the park and very famous for its old Buddhist monks place in rocky caves at approximate height of about 450 meters from sea level which gives a very beautiful view of Mumbai’s forest locations of National park. There are such hundreds of rocky caves inside the park which was built during ancient India times of Maurayan Empire. Its was Buddhist rest house and meditation centers during travel. ‘Kanheri’ was named with its Sanskrit meaning of ‘Black Rocks’ given to a word ‘Krishnagiri’. It also has beautiful natural old water streams built by Buddhists and old beds made of rocks for resting.
How to reach Kanheri Caves (Address)
One needs to Get down at Borivali station (East) and walk down to National Park in 15 minutes or alternately take Auto rickshaw, then needs to walk continuously inside the park for few mins to reach the place.
