One of the very oldest caves is Elephanta caves located around 10 to 12 kilometers from gateway of India in south of mumbai, This cave is very famous tourist attraction and specialized for rock temples inside of lord shiva and has Trimurty idol statue just in entrance specialized with Indian craft and carving work of old age. It was Portuguese who named it Elephanta caves just as they found a idol statue of elephant near the caves. Specialty is a 20 feet height idol of Load shiva with three head, so called Trimurty Sadashiva, and such old age sculptures and idols inside. Address of caves : Get down at Churchgate (South End of Mumbai), Take a taxi towards ‘Gateway of India’ Appollo Bunder, From Appollo Bunder there are Motor boats towards cave.
