Being one of the Biggest Stadiums of Mumbai, Wankhede stadium is very famous for cricket matches since years now. The name was given since the former secretary Mr. S.K Wankhede who was also an politician and a person to take first step to decide to form cities own stadium after there were some dispute between Cricket Club of India (CCI) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

Capacity of Wankhede Cricket Stadium is Almost 45,000 to 46,000  people and was established in 1974 after Brabourne stadium. Lots of International cricket matches, test series and world cups have already been played here. Its is said to be a bowlers pitch and seniors cricketers of India cricket team like Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev and Gavasker were the famous players initially played in this Stadium.

How to Reach Wankhede Stadium

This stadium is very near to Churchgate station, just walkable distance of 10 to 15 minutess. But if you are coming from outside India (i.e coming from Mumbai Airport) then the distance is long and need to catch a local train heading towards south of Mumbai (Western Railway) Churchgate Station. Alternately there are options for cool cabs and taxi from Airport.
