Cloud Seeding In Mumbai – Getting Artificial Rain For Survival

This year Mumbai has faced few days without water supply during end of summer and now monsoon has given a positive response, Still BMC decides to continue their plan of ‘Cloud Seeding’, a method of getting extra artificial rain with chemicals (Dry Ice, Silver iodide aerosol, potassium and sodium chloride) to cope up if the rainfall is not upto the mark, Water is a important part of life and BMC do not want to risk and taking chance.

Cloud seeding can be done in two ways, first is Manual cloud seeing and Other is seeding via aircraft and in Mumbai, Both the process are planning to take by next week and the aircraft cloud seeing by end of monsoon. Also that the cloud seeding process will be done again twice in next year to reduce risk of Mumbai Out of water. The project cost goes in crores and experiment will be done at Tansa River and Modak sagar in Mumbai with few lakhs of cost.

It is so depressing to know, we people do not take care of mother nature properly, by cutting trees and with activities that promotes global warming, that now monsoons are also unpredictable in Concrete city like Mumbai, that we need to depend on artificial rain technology like Cloud Seeding. Let us and government all think on this, what is simple ? preserving mother nature OR spending hard earned money on ‘Cloud Seeding’.
