One of the important attractions if staying in Mumbai is the way they celebrate every festivals, Among odd 25 to 30 list of festivals there are some like Navratri, Diwali (Festival of Light), Holi (Festival Of colors), Ganapati (Ganesh Festival), Krishna Janmashtami (Gopal Kala, Dahi Handi) which are celebrated in masses pulling crowd in lakhs.
List Of Festivals (Month Wise)
In January
- Lohri ( A Festival where fire is worshiped, It always is on 13th of January every year in Mumbai.)
- Makar Sankranti (Always celebrated on 14th January worshiping SUN, So in Mumbai and other places whole day is spent by flying kites under sun light , This festival is also called as ‘Festival of Kites‘, A MAJOR FESTIVAL ATTRACTING TOURISTS).
- Pongal (The harvest festival of thanks giving by farmers to God for agriculture and crops given during harvest).

- Mahashivratri (Here Maha means ‘grand’ and Shivratri means ‘Night of lord shiva’, So its a Night of Lord Shiva worshiping)

During Raksha Bandhan in Mumbai one can find people wearing Jabba (Traditional Clothes) and giving gifts to sisters.

- Sri Krishna Janmashtami ( A Festival attracting visitors and tourist around world, Also known as ‘DAHI HANDI’ in Mumbai where people form a group to achieve a target of breaking a Pot filled with curd at about 10 to 50 and more feets by forming a unity of Human piramid, This festival is celebrated as Birthday of Lord Krishna)
- Ganesh Festival ( Also called Ganapati Festival again attracting lakhs of tourists, The Only festival now very famous around world attracting crowd in Lakhs for 10 days. Started by Indian Leader ‘Lokmanya Tilak’ as a way to get united and celebrate a healthy competition within all Groups having there own Lord Ganesha Idol. The crowd, police security is to be seen duing Visarjan day (Immersion) when the idol is sent back as Immersion process in water at famous beaches of Mumbai).
