This is one of the very old markets of Mumbai located at ‘Grant Road’ station of western railway lines which is famous for selling almost all the things like electronics, Furniture, mechanical spare parts, clothes, shoes etc. It is referred as ‘Thieves Market’ because it is said that all this stuff which is sold here without any Guarantee or warranties are bought by thieves of Mumbai.
When visiting such places you should seriously take care of your belongings and not to carry lots of money with you. Also remember few sellers there are short minded and once bargained the prices and not purchased, they get angry and might give bad words. But if you are very good at bargaining you can come down below by 50 to 60 percent of the price said and can get antiques that sometimes cannot be found anywhere else in Mumbai. If you are a person who loves old antiques like old coins and clocks etc, this place is worth visiting.
Address – How to reach ‘Chor Bazar’
A person needs to get down at ‘Grant Road’ station (East) in western railway and from there is about 25 minutes walkable distance, so better if you going for first time take a taxi and get down at the start of the street as for first time you are sure going to get confused with multiple complicated Thieves market lanes looking all same.
