This museum is one of the largest NGO’s now in India for Preservation and Research of Natural Resource and Protecting Environment.It is about 125 years old museum. It was founded in 1883 by some eight residents of Mumbai when they met in Victoria Museum for the study of Natural History.

They also have libraries and research center at over 30 countries now and late Dr.Salim Ali was the President of the same. BNHS has also received lots of national and International Awards for Research hard work and Dedication to Nature.
