Since 2004, this beautiful and clean museum by RBI has done its best to maintain and display some rare coins since hundred of decades. It includes by is not limited to Gold, Silver, Bronze and Nickel. If you have heard of 8mm diameter coins called ‘Fanam’, then Monetary museum has it all. It is one of the only monetary heritage under RBI which is yet to be seen by most of Mumbaikars and Others.
If you are rare coins collector and are looking for a place for such rare coin collection in Mumbai, then this Museum is must to be watched. You have Coins since AD 330 to 370 and also from few decades back where one used personally ‘ek paisa and ek naya paisa’ made up of bronze and nickel. Along with coins the details are also displayed in this small clean place.
Timing of RBI monetary museum : The open timings are 10:45am to 5:15 pm (Monday to Saturday), Closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
