Madh Jetty and Marve Beaches Malad – Mumbai Suburban

“Madh Silver Beach and Marve Beach are two stunning and pristine beaches located in the suburb of Malad in Mumbai. These beaches are secluded and not too far from the busy city. In this article, you will find information about both Marve and Madh Island beaches, as well as a guide on how to reach them and explore the fort and other attractions..”

All About Marve Beach

30 minutes from Malad Railway Station at 6.6 km is Marve Beach, which also has a ferry point that takes you to the other side of Malad Creek at Manori and Gorai beach.

Marve Beach, located at Fisher Village, lacks any notable attractions and is a small beachfront area with dangerous water currents. It is strongly advised against swimming, taking a dip, or attempting to enter the water at this beach due to numerous drowning incidents in the past.

Regular fishermen and ferry boats are the main users of this location, with minimal use for filming or advertisements. The nearby local villages rely on this beach for their daily fishing activities. Indian-flagged boats can be spotted along the shore and in the bay, creating a picturesque scene of a traditional fishing village. On special occasions and weekends, vendors and hawkers serve the visitors and those waiting for the ferry. Bicycles can be seen parked along the coast.

Marve Beach is connected to Hamla Beach, and there is a road called Mard Marve Road that runs alongside it all the way to Madh Jetty. INS Hamla is a restricted area where many Marine officers reside. Hamla beach is known for its cleanliness, and the coastal village surrounding it is filled with lush greenery. Adjacent to this area is a garden named ‘Nandanvan’, which is sometimes used for filming television commercials and other shoots.

In conclusion, I suggest avoiding making specific arrangements to visit Marve Beach for a day trip, leisure time, or picnic. Instead, I recommend heading towards Aksa or Madh Island Beach on the same road for a more enjoyable experience. You can find more information about Madh Beach in the following section.

How to Reach Marve Beach

Nearest Station: Malad (West), Western Railway Route, North Suburb.

Marve Beach is 6.6 Km away by road and can be reached in a 30-minute drive. You have the option to take a bus, auto, or your private vehicle (car, etc.) to reach Marve Beach. Alternatively, you can continue on the same route to explore other beaches.

To reach Marve Beach, take Malad S V Road and after just 2 minutes, you will reach a T-Junction (Towards Kandivali) at the Daruwala Compound area. From there, you can go to Orlem, Link Road, or continue straight ahead to reach Marve Madh beach locations.

Madh Island Silver Beach

On Madh Marve road, around 7 Km inside, after Marve beach, there are several more beaches. These include Hamla, Aksa, Dana Pani, Erangal, and Silver Beach (also known as Madh Beach), all in a row. This stretch of coastal beach area in Malad, Mumbai Suburb (North), on the western railway route, has a few 5-star hotels and numerous small to medium resorts and cottages. This makes these beaches popular among tourists and a perfect spot for a day trip or weekend getaway from the busy city.

Reaching Madh Island from Versova

To talk about Madh Beach, which is located at the far end of this island, there is another way to get there without a private vehicle or car. You can take a ferry boat ride from Versova Beach (Andheri). From Versova, you can also catch a glimpse of Madh Jetty’s coastline. Silver Beach in Madh Island is much nicer and cleaner compared to Marve Beach. In the 1980s and 1990s, it was a popular choice for Bollywood film and television ad shoots. Madh Island is also known for its private bungalows that can be rented for television and film shootings.

At the far end of the beach, a little further towards Madh Jetty, you will find the ancient Madh Fort and two Hindu temples. One of the temples is called ‘Probhat Kaali Badi’ and it is dedicated to the goddess Kali. The other temple is called Kileshwar Mahadev Temple and it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Besides a few small villages and stores, the area is very secluded. That’s why Madh beach is highly recommended for a peaceful day picnic with yourself, your loved ones, or a group of friends. It is conveniently located and is the only beach option in the Mumbai Suburb after the crowded Juhu beach.

Madh Island Fort

Roman Catholics from East India were among the first residents of Mumbai who still live at Madh Marve beach. In addition to them, the fishermen of the Koli community and other Maharashtrians also reside in the villages along this long coastal area of 9.2 Km between Marve and Madh Silver Beach, extending all the way to Jetty and Madh Fort in the extreme South.

As these are fishing villages, there is a slight smell of drying fish in the coastal area. However, once you step onto the beach, you will be greeted by a cool breeze, a breathtaking view of the sunset, and floating boats on the vast Arabian Sea. The uninterrupted views and clean sand will surely make your day.

If you’re already at Madh Beach, make sure you visit the historic Madh Fort. It is located at Kileshwar Mahadev Mandir, Kileshwar Road, Madh, Ambu Bet, Madh, Mumbai. There is also a jetty in that area that connects Versova, a couple of old temples, and a church called ‘St. Bonaventure’. You can take Bus No. 271 from Malad station to reach, all these locations mentioned in this article. Alternatively, you can also choose to travel by autos or private taxis.

Reaching Madh Beach, Fort and Jetty

  • Nearest Station: Malad (West). Alternatively, you can opt for a ferry ride from Versova Beach, which is quicker and nearer.
  •

  • Madh Beach is located 7.2 kilometers away from Marve Beach, making it a total distance of 14 kilometers from Malad railway Station.
  •

  • Bus and Auto Choices: Both bus and auto travel to Madh Jetty to Malad. Private vehicles are also a great alternative.
  •

  • Road Route: To get to Madh’s Silver Beach and Jetty, you can follow the same directions as mentioned for Marve. Just continue straight on Marve Madh Road for an additional 7 Km until you reach the beach, fort, and jetty.

These overnight picnic beaches in Mumbai are also perfect for a getaway, with plenty of resorts and hotels to choose from.
