Happy Buds Pet Cremation Van
Happy Buds Pet Cremation Van

In July 2023, the ‘Happy Buds Foundation’ NGO introduced Mumbai’s first-ever Mobile Electric van dedicated to pet cremation. This unique van is currently operating in important areas like Dahisar, Borivali, and Kandivali, as well as other busy suburban regions along the western railway route in Mumbai North.

Located at IC Colony Pet Park in Borivali West, the van offers eco-friendly cremation services for both stray and private pets, specifically dogs and cats. Pet owners can say goodbye to their beloved companions through proper last rites and funerals for a small fee of Rs. 3000. Even residents of Malad, Goregaon, Jogeshwari, and Andheri can easily access these services by heading to Borivali.

Discover the compassionate and environmentally-conscious pet cremation services provided by the ‘Happy Buds Foundation’ NGO’s Mobile Electric van. Give your furry friends the farewell they deserve while contributing to a greener future.

Our electric crematory services are designed to be fast and effective, providing you with peace of mind. As soon as our van arrives at your home, we will quickly complete the required procedures in just 30 minutes. This is particularly advantageous as the pet hospital and crematory services in Parel are quite distant. You can be assured that your beloved furry companion will receive the care and farewell they deserve.

Electric Cremation at Evershine Nagar, Malad West.

Malad’s Evershine Nagar now houses the Cattle and Dog Pound, one of the three electric cemeteries incinerators proposed in 2018. Despite facing unexpected delays, the incinerator was finally installed in 2022, bringing some positive news for Malad crematory services. Located in Malad (West), the services became operational in September 2023. These cremation services, provided by BMC, are completely free of charge and open to all pet owners in Mumbai, regardless of their location.

The services are available from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. You will need a death certificate from the BMC department or a registered private veterinary. Don’t forget to bring your BMC Dog License and copies of your Aadhaar and PAN cards. If you need more information, you can contact us at 8873887364.

I will make sure to give you an update on the status of the pet electric crematory in Malad once it is operational under the BMC’s supervision. Additionally, the BMC has plans to install two more incinerators in Deonar and Mahalaxmi, but the progress of these projects is currently undisclosed.

Pratapnagar Hindu Smashan Bhumi

Currently, pet burial and cremation services are prohibited at these Cremation places due to the law. Therefore, this service is currently not operational.

Pratapnagar Hindu Smashan Bhumi
JVLR Jogeshwari East Cemetery (Pratapnagar Hindu Smashan Bhumi)

I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this burial site, but Pratapnagar Hindu Smashan Bhumi, located at 4, Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR), Gupha Tekdi, Jogeshwari East, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400060, provides a range of services for both pet burial and cremation.

The Kora Kendra Center

There are currently no updates regarding cremation services at the Kora Kendra location, and it appears that these services no longer exist.

The Kora Kendra Center NGO, managed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, is located at ‘Gramodaya’, 3, Irla Road, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai 400056. This amazing organization not only provides burial and cremation services for beloved pets, but also offers complimentary services for stray animals. The best part is that they provide convenient pickup services at no cost, which can be a great help for pet owners during difficult times.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the contact details for this center, so I’m unsure about the full range of services they currently offer. If anyone has any information about this, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share it in the comment box or reach out to me personally. Your help can make a huge difference for those in need.

Burial and Cremation Related Recommendations

Look for a secluded piece of land that is rarely visited or find a private farm owned by a fellow pet lover who would be happy to allow a burial. It’s important to choose a location that is far away from any water sources like wells, rivers, streams, lakes, or ponds.

When digging the grave, ensure that it is deep enough to completely cover the animal’s body and add plenty of soil on top. For small dogs, a depth of 3 feet should be enough, but adjust accordingly for larger breeds.

To discourage other animals and speed up the decomposition process, sprinkle around 2 to 3 kg of coarse sea salt (the type that is not finely crushed and doesn’t look pure white) on and around the body. This kind of salt is readily available in the market. Once the salt is applied, cover the surface area with topsoil.

To ensure the burial site is easily identifiable and to prevent other animals from disturbing it, it is recommended to place a large stone as a marker. This will also help in preventing the spread of infection if the pet had any health issues. In addition, please remember to cancel the existing BMC dog license after the funeral. For a detailed step-by-step guide on how to cancel the license, you can refer to the Pet License Cancellation Process.
