MCGM Swimming Pool Membership Analysis

Note: The standard operating hours for all pool locations in Mumbai are as follows: from Tuesday to Sunday, the facility is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. However, there are designated ladies-only hours from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Mondays, the facility is closed.

BMC Swimming Pool Rules
Note: Additional details about different regulations can be obtained. Here are a few general guidelines that are relevant to all swimming pools operated by MCGM in Mumbai.
The swimming pool facility will be unavailable for members every Monday as part of its weekly closure. Furthermore, the administration has the authority to close the swimming pool facilities on eight specific public holidays throughout the year for approved events. It is important to note that during these closures, the membership period will not be extended to members.
General guidelines for membership facilities

1. The use of the swimming facility is entirely at the member’s own risk, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation holds no responsibility for any accidents or incidents that may occur within the pool area.
2. Only members who have registered their entry through the computerized system are granted access to the swimming pool.
3. The annual membership is currently valid for 365 days, excluding public and weekly holidays, as well as twelve days designated for administration-sanctioned events. Additionally, the administration has introduced new policies for monthly or quarterly memberships.
4. Members with a valid membership can utilize the swimming facility for a maximum of 60 consecutive minutes during pool opening days, which includes time for pre-swim and post-swim bathing and changing. While a pre-swim bath is mandatory, a post-swim bath is not required.
5. Apprentice members are entitled to receive complimentary training from the swimming instructors and must wear a red cap while in the pool area. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in the cancellation of their membership.
6. Members are granted access to the swimming pool based on its capacity and must abide by the regulations outlined in Serial No. 4 of the Swimming Pool Regulations.
7. Members of any Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation swimming pool have the option to purchase a daily ticket for another pool, subject to availability and payment of an advance fee.
8. The expiration date of members who fail to renew their membership after the designated session will be gradually reduced. Here are the specific details of this policy:
If the product is used for longer than the recommended daily session duration, the validity period will be shortened. The recommended daily session duration is as follows:
– Up to 60 minutes per day: validity period of two days
– 61 to 120 minutes per day: validity period of three days
– 121 to 180 minutes per day: validity period of four days
– 181 to 240 minutes per day: validity period of five days
In addition to the deduction mentioned above, the validity period will be further reduced by fifteen days if a member exceeds the grace period more than five times within a consecutive thirty-day period.
9. If the reduced validity period exceeds sixty days, such members will not be eligible for membership renewal. The membership will come to an end upon the expiration of the validity period. However, the member in question can acquire a new membership by completing the necessary process based on availability.
10. If a member violates the instructions of lifeguards or swimming instructors, their membership will be revoked. In case of any complaints, the member must register them in the office’s complaint register. It is crucial to avoid arguing or engaging in disputes with any staff member of the establishment regarding the complaint. Failure to comply may lead to the management’s decision to completely cancel the member’s membership.
11. All members must adhere to the designated swimming attire prescribed by the management. Failure to comply with the dress code will result in denial of access to the swimming area for the member. Female members are required to wear a swimming cap, while male members with long hair must wear a waterproof cap.
12. Members are responsible for the safekeeping of their personal belongings. The management will not be held accountable for any loss or theft that may occur.
13. The swimming pool strictly prohibits the entry of members who have applied oil, body lotion, chemicals, creams, etc. Furthermore, individuals with bandages on any part of their body are also not permitted to access the swimming pool.
14. To ensure the safety of all members, individuals with ingrown toenails are not allowed to enter the swimming pool, as it may pose a risk of injury to other members. Moreover, swimming while hungry, tired, feverish, or suffering from any illness is strictly forbidden. Additionally, members will be denied entry if they are found to have any skin or infectious disease or if they appear visibly unwell.
15. Engaging in activities such as brushing teeth, cutting nails, cutting hair, and shaving is strictly prohibited in the swimming pool bathroom and its surrounding areas. Any member found partaking in these activities will have their membership revoked.
16. Members are strongly advised against wearing glass, metal, or plastic religious threads, jewelry, or similar ornaments while entering the swimming pool. Any complaints regarding missing items from members will be promptly addressed.
17. It is strictly forbidden to jump or surf in shallow water within the swimming pool premises.
18. For the safety and cleanliness of the swimming pool area, all members, guest members, and visitors are not permitted to wear any type of footwear, including slippers and boots, on the deck or in the swimming pool.
19. Only swimming members are allowed on the deck. If a member who is not present for swimming purposes enters the deck, their membership may be revoked. Non-members are strictly prohibited from accessing the swimming pool area.
20. Parents or visitors accompanying members of swimming pools with spectator facilities will receive complimentary access to the spectator facilities. However, it is important to note that only women are allowed in the audience during the special session for women. Parents should sit in the audience area and supervise their small children, while they are not permitted on the pool deck.
21. It is strictly forbidden to stand on the edge of the swimming pool as it may obstruct the lifeguards or swimming indicators. Families who violate this rule may face the cancellation of their membership.
22. Running, pushing, jumping, shouting, singing, dancing, and playing music with any instrument are strictly prohibited within the swimming pool area.
23. At swimming pools equipped with a public address system for playing music, the Brihanmumbai Mahanagarapalika requires that music can only be played in the presence of municipal employees. The management retains the right to determine the type of music played on the loudspeakers.
24. Consumption of food and beverages is not permitted within the swimming pool premises.
25. Animals are not allowed in the swimming pool area.
26. In the event of any damage caused to the property belonging to the Municipal Corporation by members, the members will be held accountable for full compensation. In certain cases, the membership of the member may also be revoked. The management reserves the right to involve the police or take legal action if necessary.
27. Swimming pool members do not possess the authority to interfere with the duties of the staff or officers.
Lockers Facilities
Please take note that it is mandatory for all members who wish to swim to utilize the lockers provided and ensure that they are securely locked before entering the pool area. Once the lockers have been used, members are required to empty them and take their belongings and locks with them when leaving the swimming pool.
Adhering to these guidelines is crucial in order to guarantee the safety and security of all members.
Kindly be informed that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration cannot be held accountable for any member who neglects to vacate their locker after the designated swimming session time. Any member found to be in violation of this regulation may face penalties or have their membership revoked.
In situations where the member cannot be identified, the locker will be forcibly opened and its contents will be disposed of. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure swimming environment.
Parking Facilities
Members, visiting members, and visitors are granted permission to park their vehicles within the designated premises of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, in accordance with the current regulations and policies. The applicable parking fee will be determined based on the availability of parking spaces.
Please be aware that members, guests, and visitors are solely responsible for parking their vehicles, as the management is not obliged to provide parking facilities.
