MCGM Swimming Pool Membership Analysis

As of 2023, according to the average of all the below-listed BMC swimming pools, 60% and above memberships are male. Majority of people (about 70% and above) pay charges for a yearly membership, 15% go for a quarterly membership, and then prefer monthly registration to get all the same benefits of the nearest pool preferred by the individual’s Mumbai residential. Also note that daily passes are also allocated for those who do not wish to go for monthly, quarterly, or yearly memberships.

Pool timings reserved for ladies (i.e., ladies special batches and timings) are also in demand and are usually in the morning from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Apart from that, there are summer special batches running for all those students on vacation and general people too.

BMC Swimming Pool Rules

Note: There are more details about various rules. Below are some of the general rules that apply to all MCGM swimming pools around Mumbai.

The swimming pool facility will be completely closed to the members every Monday as a weekly holiday.

The administration reserves the right to close the swimming pool facilities for events approved by the administration on eight public holidays designated by the administration as public holidays in addition to the above holidays during the year.

The membership period will not be extended to members during such a closed period.

General Rules for Swimming Pool Membership Facilities

Every member should swim at his own risk, and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation shall not be responsible for any accident or incident in the swimming pool area.
Members will not be allowed to enter the swimming pool unless they register their entry through the computerized system.
Presently, the annual membership (out of 365 days, excluding applicable public and weekly holidays and twelve days in a year for events sanctioned by the administration) will be awarded. Membership will be given as per the newly decided policy regarding monthly or quarterly membership by the administration.
A member holding a membership is permitted to use the swimming facility for a total of 60 minutes consecutively during the following times on pool opening days, excluding weekly and public holidays, including pre-swim and post-swim bathing and changing time. (A bath before swimming is compulsory, and a bath after swimming is not.)
Apprentice members are given free training by the swimming instructors present. It is mandatory for apprentice members to wear a red cap on their heads in the swimming pool area. Otherwise, his membership will be cancelled.
Members will be allowed access to the swimming pool, subject to the capacity of the pool. Members must comply with the rules set out in Serial No. 4 of the Swimming Pool Regulations.
A person who is a member of any of the swimming pools of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation can take a daily ticket for any swimming pool other than the swimming pool to which he is a member, subject to his availability, on payment of an advance fee.
The validity period of the members who do not leave the institution after the expiration of the term of the appointed session shall be phased out. Its details are as follows:
The duration of usage exceeding the daily prescribed session duration will result in a reduced validity period.

1 to 60 minutes a day
61 to 120 minutes, two days
121 to 180 minutes for three days
181 to 240 minutes for four days

In addition to the above deduction, the validity period will be reduced by fifteen days if a member avails of the grace period more than five times in a consecutive thirty-day period.
Such members shall not be eligible for renewal of membership if the reduced validity period exceeds sixty days. His membership will terminate on the expiration of the validity period. However, the said member can take a new membership by completing the new membership process as per availability.
Membership will be canceled if a member violates lifeguards or swimming instructors. If the member has any complaints, he must register them in the complaint register of the office. Should not argue or argue with any employee of the establishment regarding the complaint, and in doing so, the management reserves the right to cancel the member’s membership completely.
It is compulsory for the members to wear the dress prescribed by the management for swimming, and any member not wearing the proper dress will not be allowed to swim. Female members are required to wear a cap while swimming, and male members with long hair are required to wear a waterproof cap.
Members should keep their own clothes and belongings on their own responsibility. Management will not be responsible if it is lost or stolen.
Any oil, body lotion, chemical, cream etc. Members who arrive will not be allowed into the swimming pool. Members with bandages on any part of the body will not be allowed to enter the swimming pool.
Members with ingrown toenails will not be allowed into the swimming pool due to the possibility of injury to other members. It is prohibited to swim while hungry, tired, feverish, or sick with any disease, and members will be denied entry if any kind of skin disease or infectious disease is detected or the member is found to be sick.
Brushing teeth, cutting nails, cutting hair, and shaving are prohibited in the swimming pool bathroom and in the area, and the membership of the member found doing this will be cancelled.
Do not enter the swimming pool wearing glass, metal, or plastic religious threads, jewelry, or similar ornaments; any complaint of a member missing will not be accepted, and the administration will not be responsible for the same.
Jumping or surfing in shallow water is prohibited.
Members, guest members, and visitors are prohibited from wearing footwear (slippers, boots, etc.) in the swimming pool as well as on the deck.
Only swimming members will be allowed on the deck. Management reserves the right to cancel the membership of such a member if the member has not come to swim and the member enters the deck. No one other than members will be allowed in the swimming pool area (on deck).
For swimming pools where spectator facilities are available, parents or visitors accompanying members will be given free access to the spectator facilities. No one other than women will be allowed in the audience during the special session for women. Parents accompanying small children should sit in the audience and keep an eye on their children. Parents will not be allowed on the pool deck.

Do not stand on the edge of the swimming pool. The solution should not be collected in such a way as to obstruct lifeguards or swimming indicators. Membership in such families will be cancelled.
Running, pushing each other, jumping, shouting, singing, dancing, and playing music based on any instrument are prohibited in the swimming pool area.
At the swimming pools where the Brihanmumbai Mahanagarapalika has the facility to play music through a public address system,Music can be played there in the presence of municipal employees, and the management will retain the right to decide what kind of music to play on loudspeakers.
Eating and drinking items are prohibited in the swimming pool.
Animals are not allowed in the swimming pool area.
In case of any damage to the property of the Municipal Corporation by the members, full compensation will be paid by the members, and in some cases, the member’s membership will also be cancelled. Also, management will have the power to take police or legal action.
No swimming pool member shall have the right to interfere with the duties of the staff or officers of the swimming pool administration.
It is mandatory for the members to follow the instructions of the swimming pool staff on duty.
In the event that an identity card issued by the administration is lost or stolen, a secondary identity card will be made available upon payment of the prescribed fee for the secondary identity card. Management reserves the right to relax the rules and provide secondary identity cards.
Citizens below two years of age will not be given membership. In the case of members aged 02 and above to 06 years of age, it is mandatory for the adult member to submit an affidavit as per Appendix No. 2, and it is mandatory for the adult members who submit the affidavit or are mentioned in the affidavit to enter the water with such members; otherwise, the membership of both members will be cancelled.
Only children up to the age of 6 will be admitted to the special session for women along with their female parents. Members up to the age of 18 are required to submit a parental guarantee at the time of membership.
If it is necessary to close the swimming pool facility due to a natural or unforeseen calamity or incident, the management shall have all rights in this regard, and no refund or additional grace period will be given in such cases.
If the swimming pool facility is closed for more than ten days due to administrative reasons, the administration reserves all rights to extend the period of closure to the members. If the swimming pool facility has to be closed for a period of 10 to 30 days, the right to grant an extension period to the members will be subject to the respective swimming pool management, and if the swimming pool facility has to be closed for a longer period, the members will be given an extension period with the approval of the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
However, the administration reserves all rights to grant extensions to the members. The decisions of the office or administration regarding extensions of time are binding on the members, and no complaint will be entertained. The swimming pool will be closed for ten consecutive days per year for annual maintenance as required, and no increment or refund will be given for this closed period.
In the case of any complaint received from other members regarding a member, after verifying the same, the right to cancel the membership of the member against whom the complaint has been received shall be subject to the Assistant Manager or Manager.
The power to take action against members who waste water and to cancel the membership will be under the authority of the assistant manager or manager.
Members should note that the membership of members who misbehave as well as those who break the rules will be cancelled.
Smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited in and around the swimming pool, as are the smoking and consumption of tobacco, gutkha, and narcotic drugs. The administration reserves the right to cancel the membership of such a member if found.
Citizens and Members of Parliament are prohibited from taking photographs, selfies, or filming in the swimming pool area. In such cases, the membership of the existing members will be canceled, and in other cases, police or legal action will be taken.
The office reserves the right to deprive the member of the swimming pool facilities (temporary suspension) as well as permanently cancel the membership on grounds of unsanitary conditions, in which case no grace period or refund will be granted.
If the member whose membership has been canceled by the administration takes re-membership online without the written permission of the administration, the administration has the right to cancel the newly taken membership of such member, and no refund will be given in such a case.
A swimming pool complex that offers sports other than swimming. In such places, the rules of the swimming pool shall be binding on members of other sports with separate rules for their respective sports.
As per the policy of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the tariff is regularly increased every year. Members shall be liable to pay the dues accordingly. (Circular No. CA/FRM/49, dated February 7, 2013, in force at present).
The administration reserves the right to make any recovery from a member of any swimming pool at the time of membership in any swimming pool.
In cases of refunds, the Deputy Commissioner (Parks) may decide in his prerogative.
The administration reserves the right to change all the above rules and regulations as and when required.

Lockers

Every member coming to swim should lock the available lockers, and after using the lockers for swimming, empty the lockers and take their belongings and locks with them before leaving the swimming pool. So every member who comes to swim gets a mine.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration does not accept any responsibility regarding any member who is found not to vacate the mine after the swimming session time. Penal action will be taken against him, or if such a member is not found or his identity is not identified, the lock of the mine will be cut and the contents will be disposed of. In such cases, the right to penal action or cancellation of membership will be subject to the administration.

Parking

As per the prevailing rules and policies of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, members, visiting members, and visitors may park their vehicles in the respective establishment by paying the prescribed fee depending on the availability of space. However, members, guests, and visitors have to park their vehicles at their own risk. The management is not bound to provide parking spaces to the members.
