MSRTC AC Buses Between Borivali and BKC – Mumbai

Note : MMRDA’s Hybrid Shuttle Bus started between BKC to Borivali and Other locations from 16th March 2018.

UPDATE 1 : Due to poor response, This MSRTC bus service has been cancelled and not running as of now..

“After the initial success of BEST BRTS AC buses in Mumbai, MSRTC has taken a long awaiting move and has started first of its kind Hi-Tech point to point Air conditioned bus service which will only run between Borivali and BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) as one now. Plans are more such services and routes like Borivali to Thane, Special bus for Women and more. Its a one of kind of bus service which will stop only at Thakur Village and Lokhandwala Complex in Kandivali East and no where else. With digitally advanced, this bus will have facilities like CCTV, WiFi, GPS and Charging facilities for laptops and mobiles. One of the best moves taken by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) aiming to reduce the car traffic on congested roads between Borivali and BKC. Lets know more about what are the charges, facilities, timings (timetable), routes details, monthly pass charges etc of such buses..”

AC Bus Routes and Timings

Borivali to BKC

Bus 1 Route : Borivali Sukurvadi to Thakur Village Near Kandivali East Highway to BKC
Timings : Morning 7:20 and 8:50
Bus 2 Route : Borivali Railway Station to Lokhandwala Complex at Kandivali East to BKC
Timings : Morning 7:30 and 9:00

BKC to Borivali

Bus 1 Route : Starting from BKC to Thakur Village to Borivali Station
Timings : Evening 6:30 (Now timing changed to 6:15) and 9:30
Bus 2 Route : From BKC to Lokhandwala Complex Kandivali East to Borivali
Timings : Evening 7:15 (Now timings changed to 6:30) and 8:15

Detailed Routes and Bus Stops

Stops inside Thakur Village : Neminath Jain Circle, Thakur Cinema, Additional Police Commissioner’s Office, Thakur Village Signal.

Stops inside Lokhandwala Complex : Big Bazar and Centrium Mall Circle.

Stops inside BKC : Family Court, RBI, IT Office, NIE, Wockhardt Hospital, Mahanagar Gas, ICICI Bank, Bourse Diamond Market, Trade Centre, Telephone Exchange, PT Chamber, Central Plaza, Dani Corporate Park, Mumbai University, Forensic Lab, Grand Hyatt.

Daily Ticket and Monthly Pass Rates

As of now MSRTC was charging Rs.140 (Now as of 22nd July 2013 Price Reduced to Rs.100) One way for this bus services which covers a distance of 29 to 30 Kilometres. By August Monthly pass facilities are expected to start which will be charged Rs.5400 Per month, which comes to daily Rs.180 for two way travel compared to Rs.140 one way (Monthly Pass Price May Change). Still according to me with this great facilities and service the charges are little more and can be reduced to more 30% at least (Your Comments at end of this post expected).

About 200 to 250 people have already registered for this bus services for this routes and government are planning to start similar services for routes between Thane and Borivali via Ghodbunder road with approximate charges being Rs.75 one way.

Facilities Inside Bus

So how this AC bus differs from others like BRTS etc ? It simple is high-tech and is point to point. Important and Luxurious facilities like Charging point for Laptop and Mobiles, WIFI for internet, GPS and CCTV camera for extra security along with enjoying the luxury ride seeing LCD TV is what you get by spending the detailed charges for these buses.
