BSPCA is one of the best known veterinary hospital and animal care shelter in Mumbai for pets and animals like Birds, Cats, Dogs of many breeds, Horses, Canines and Cattle too. It has about 500 to 600 animals all together in centre amongst which about 300 and more are dogs some of which are street dogs who are injured, abandoned and are in unhealthy conditions requiring immediate attention and medications. One can contact them or attend the adoption fair and get details from animal welfare organizations like WFA.

Mr. Kahanna the main person in charge at BSPCA centre takes care of this animal shelter which required huge donations to survive. If you are one of those who love animals and pets and would like to help some, This is one of the charitable trust working since 135 years in Mumbai. For animal lovers of Mumbai, the good news is that you can also adopt a animal and take care of it from time to time or either sponsor for a day (charging Rs. 150 per dog) and help those (Kindly Note, Charges may change from time to time). Also that being a volunteer (Free Of Charges) you are allowed to enter the premises and play around with animals with out permission, Really one of the best Animal and Pet caring centre and a boon to stray animals shelters.

If you are looking for some animal shelters for celebrities in Mumbai, This place is famous for it too as you can sometimes find some famous celebrities in this pet care centre with their beloved puppies to get helped. Recently Salman khan’s ‘Myjaan’ (Dog) was here for treatment and he visited here frequently. There are some volunteers and canine experts who will guide to being a new volunteer of the pet centre.

  1. I hv 2 stray dogs age 3 years sterilised took shelter in my bldg during the monsoon now thy have put up in the society premises some members do not like dogs they pelt stones n hit them severely if you could recommend a shelter home for this dogs it would be of immense help.

  2. I have a stray near my place who was really active and healthy but now it is not well and struggles for food. And just bcz he is not well and ppl around that place hit him and don’t feed
    Can u help . Maybe need a vet to cure him
