Mumbai Zoo : Right here inside the heart of city, Near to Mumbai Central is this Byculla station (Central Railway Route) which has our only Zoo Called ‘Jijamata Udhyan’ or ‘Rani Baug’. Recent attraction of this zoo are those cute Penguins at a special section developed at huge cost.

Maharashtra Nature Park : This unbelievable artificially created dense green forest of this Nature park is located right between concrete location of Sion and Dharavi area. Chhota Kashmir : Yeah, we have a mini kashmir inside Mumbai, Which was major by Bollywood films of 70’s and 80’s to get those few shots that gave a feel of Kashmir. No snow, Yet very beautiful during monsoons, Chhota kashmir have all season boat rides inside open park area located at Aarey colony Goregaon, The very famous green zone of Mumbai.

Aarey Picnic Point Pond : That same page about Aarey colony as detailed previously has a section which has some details about a pond (Talao) and garden like location, ideal for picnic with birds and lush greenery all around. On Sundays and holidays this place is very much frequented by groups for a day out in green along the water body. It is also called Holiday park within locals and is located at Dinkarrao Desai Road inside Aarey.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park : Also called National Park located at Borivali East, Just 10 minutes walking distance from Railway station and connected to National Highway 8, This is one of the biggest forest area with wild animals, varieties of birds, widely spread forest, Old Buddhist caves (Kanheri Caves as detailed above) and also has big cat safari, Toy Train Ride, Jain Temple, Flowing river in addition to the natural flora and fauna inside. A wide picnic garden area inside with ample parking space for any group size.
Timings : Open until 5:30 PM.
Kanheri Caves : A location inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali (Western Suburban of Mumbai), Kanheri Caves is an ideal day picnic location which has Rock hewn temples with Buddhist shrines. New discoveries of old caves and that mesmerizing view of green zone from top is what brings families and friends together to explore this suburban park area.
Timings : Open till late evening, But recommended to move out by 6:00 Pm as its a forest area with leopards and other wild around.
Hanging Garden : South Mumbai’s oldest Garden with green grass for kids to jump and play around and an ideal location with fresh air from wide sea surrounded and leisure time spent by adults. Shoe House and Chowpatty beach view are some of the famous points inside this garden on hilltop of Malabar location.

Yeoor Hills : Not actually a garden or a park, But worth to mention if you are any time around this area. The wide range of national park forest (See above) has other side falling under Thane Ghodbundar road area which has this famous ‘Yeoor Hills’, a mountain hilltop location very famous for Mountain Biking (MTB) and a must visit during monsoons actually. A day picnic with adventure and hiking with a waterfall and view of Thane city is what you can expect from this place.
Timings : Anytime in a day and should be walking down by 5:30 for safety.
Essel World : Its a beautiful Amusement park with lots of adventure rides for kids and adults. So if you are looking for a adventure picnic with rides apart from gardens to sit and enjoy, Here is the perfect place to be. Many new thrilling rides introduced where you can enjoy the fun in group. Located at an Island near Borivali and near the very famous Global Pagoda, Its a must visit at least once if you are in Mumbai. Do not forget to visit the new Bird park inside.

Water Kingdom : Owned by the same Group of company which owns Essel World, Water Kingdom is connected / adjacent to Essel world park with the difference that reflects in the name, Its is purely a Water park. A full day coolent in hot summer days is a perfect picnic spot for water rides lovers inside Mumbai, Located at Gorai Village Borivali (West).
