Updates 27 November 2016 : Thought of an update as bill payment system around world has taken drastic upgrades. Many E-wallets, Digital payments systems have already been introduced and people have their MTNL bills registered with E-Wallet companies.

Bill Payment at MTNL’s own counters (Cheque / Cash)

In Mumbai, you can pay your land line, mobile, broadband and other MTNL utility bills at their own counters called QCSC (Quick care customer service centres) located at your nearest MTNL GM office. They have about 150 such counters specially for customer billing and other services. QCSC billing system accepts payments in cash and cheque both and the payment gets updated instantly in your account which helps to activate any services interrupted due to non bill payment.

Alternately, you can also drop your cheques in the cheque drop box available at your nearest MTNL exchanges if you are not able to reach for bill payment counters in official hours.

MTNL Bill Payment at Nationalized Banks

MTNL has tied up with 6 nationalized banks accepting MTNL bill in Mumbai and below are details of bank branches that can be reached at your convenience. Kindly note that the bill payment can be done through cash and local cheque’s only as outstation cheques / PDC are not accepted here. Below are the name of banks with number of branches in Mumbai.

  • Central Bank Of India – 17 Branches.
  • State Bank Of India – 14 Branches in Mumbai and Suburbs. It also has 5 separate counters at colaba telephone bhavan.
  • Punjab National Bank – 17 Branches.
  • Dena Bank – 9 Branches.
  • Union Bank of India – 27 Branches.

Apart of the above banks, There are bill payment drop boxes placed in various ATM of Standard Charted Bank branches in Mumbai.

Since February 2003, about 305 post offices in and around Mumbai accepts bills in (CASH ONLY) for MTNL services like landlines and WLL Mobiles (Garuda) customers.

MTNL Electronic Clearing System (ECS)

Those who are looking for hassle free and time saving payments options, ECS is the best an best options. The benefit of this online payment method is that customer gets 21 days to check and verify bills in case of any inconsistency or over charged or any other problems. Upon 21 days if there is no complaints by customer, MTNL carries its ECS transaction on customers account and payment system debits customer account. They also sends and extra copy called ‘NOT FOR PAYMENT’ bill for your reference and record at your address.

How To subscribe for MTNL ESC ?

Simply go to any nearest MTNL exchange (QCSC centers) and ask for the form. A bonus benefit is 1% discount on your bill (Max upper limit, Rs. 250/-). For this ECS payment service you are not charged by your bank or even don’t have to pay anything extra to MTNL Mumbai, its a time saving and recommended option.

MTNL VDS ( Voluntary Deposit Scheme)

Another offline payment option with a benefit of up to 5.5% interest earning on total amount. The latest interest earning rates can be known when you goto for subscription of this bill payment option at any MTNL branch.

MTNL bill Pay via KIOSKS

Kiosks are basically general ATM like boxes that accept Cash / Cheque from customers. MTNL have started this payment service helps all those customers who already know and are paying other such utilities and mobile bills. Some of these MTNL kiosks also accepts cheques, they have bar code readers that scans cheque numbers and other details.
